A Delicious Baclava with pistacchios. We found these delicates from Maltepe when searching for a non-touristic Hamam. BTW we found the hamam and the sauna was getting close to the Finnish Sauna...
Erittäin hyvä Baclava pistaasipähkinöillä. Antonio (kuvassa käsi) löysi elämän tarkoituksen syödessään tätä. Löydettiin kun etsittiin ei-turisti Hamam:ta. Sauna muuten siellä oli melko lähellä Suomalaista saunaa..  Heidän mielestään se oli Eurooppalaistunut sauna.

Mercimek Corbasi. Soups are really diverse in Turkey. Mercimek is one of the most famous and popular ones at least in the south-west region. Don't ask me what's inside!
Mercimek keitto. Turkissa erilaisia keittoja löytyy tosi paljon. Mercimek on näillä alueilla, joilla olen matkustellut tähän mennessä, ollut kaikkein suosituin. Ei mitään tietoa sisällöstä!

My First Sahur has ended. Sahur is the morning food before the first call to prayer. Yeah, I'm doing the Ramazan... The eating and drinking part. Who knows for how long.
Mun eka Sahur on päättynyt. Sahur on viimeinen ruoka ennen auringonnousua ja ekaa rukouskutsua. Jeah, yritän paastoamista, eli Ramazania. Katotaan miten kauan..
Ramazan is a month lasting period (13.9.2007-29.10.2007) when muslims can't eat or drink when the sun is up, this means about 14hrs. Also alcohol and sex is prohibited during this period.

My First Iftar... Hungry :p
Ensimmäinen Iftar. Iftar on ilta-ruoka eli ensimmäinen ruoka, jonka voi syödä kun aurinko on laskenut. Se on yleensä myös sosiaalinen tapahtuma.
Marmara restaurant in Bilkent Campus. Iftar is the evening food after the last call to prayer during Ramazan.

Kokorec. Nam, nam! With spices it's good. Kokorec, you wanna know what is it? It's made of the intestines of a sheep. I heard that the EU has tried to make Turkey ban these lovely pieces of food. And my turkish friends mother has forbid my friend to eat those.
Kokorec. Yeah! Mausteilla ihan hyvää. Kokorec tehdään lampaan suolista ja maustetaan voimakkaasti... miksiköhän. Kuulemma EU on yrittänyt kieltää moiset ruoat Turkista, mutta ainakin vielä niitä täältä varsin runsaasti löytyy.

Ramazan Cadiri. This was very interesting experience. The Turkish custom is that during Ramazan there are various tents in cities where you can get free food during the Iftar. It relates to the fact that during Ramazan you should give to the poor and feel their pain. We ate this Iftar in the most poor and dangerous part of Ankara. I haven't yet met anybody from Bilkent who would've gone to even eat to these tents not mentioning to this part of the city. We gathered quite a lot attention and some unecpected friends. After the sunset the place was like from a horror movie. Many people are invalides here and the clothes and outfit is really ragged. The other side of  big cities in Turkey.
